Taft Stats 2017 Update

Feb 26

Diego makes his first appearance of the season, locking in his contract allowing him to keep the "Rolando Mota" nickname for yet another year.  The youngster Alberto made his first appearance, has promising young talent, but has a lot to learn and room for growth.  Fernando Gobbled up 6 wins, keeping in pace with a hot start to the season.  Rivals Beto and Mark split 4 wins each and found themselves on the same team more often than they would have liked.

March 5th

Tons of new faces decided to poke their heads out during the rainiest taft basketball day in a while, go figure.  Story of the day was the epic battle on the last game of the day, Gus Rory Drew and Averey took Topes Mark Ben and Angel the distance in a final of 20-18 that was supposed to end at 10!.  Maybe if Gus hadn't bashed his hand into a wall a few weeks earlier like an idiot he could have helped make up the 2 point difference, but a great game it was either way.

March 12th

Averey's 5 straight wins were the story in this one.  Ave's friend Jawad made his first appearance and had a little trouble adjusting to the courts, but played solid overall.  Topes reeled off 4 wins of his own while Gus came up winless for the first time in a while.

Scouting Report:  Pizano brought his usual set of skills to the 2016 season.  The unsung hero usually remains  under the radar due to not having one obvious strength, but he excels at not having a true weakness.  Mark contributes on both sides of the court with one of the better mid range shots at Taft.  Above average defense, rebounding, and a balanced offensive approach makes Mark an asset on every team he joins.  His unyielding tenacity and stamina of the Gods may force us to place Coors light on the list of performance enhancing drugs, since a normal 36 year old would call it a day once the sun hits high noon.  Thankfully for the Taft ballers, there is plenty of Coors to go around.

2017 Keys To Success:  Start drinking Coors earlier to get the boost early in the games instead of later.  Don’t waste mental energy roasting Andy.

Taft Stats 2017 update

The youngsters made it out in one of the largest turnouts in quite some time.  Gus lost his cool and punched a wall after game 3 but stayed in to salvage a couple of wins.  Angelo somehow keeps winning, is he the secret sauce?  Topes' decline isnt happening anytime soon.  5 wins for Mark this week, he racks em up like nothing.
